I do not currently bill medical insurance directly. If you have "out of network" coverage, I am happy to provide an itemized receipt for services and you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many clients utilize their flexible spending dollars, health savings account or medical savings account to pay for services.
I believe keeping insurance companies out of the therapy process allows sessions to be less prescribed, less controlled and more effective. Insurance companies require clinicians to focus on diagnosis, treatment plans and proving positive outcomes. I do not want to focus on your diagnosis, ways you need additional care and specific ways you have improved. Your progress in therapy should be organic, personal, and completely confidential. This is why I have opted to leave insurance companies out of our work.
Sliding Scale Available
I offer a reduced rate for clients with low income or significant financial hardship. Please contact me (link to page) for more information.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I request that you notify me (via phone/text) at least 24 hours in advance. Missed appointments and cancellations with less than 24 hours will be charged the full session fee.
Julia Murtha, MA, LADC, LPCC-t
Owner/Mental Health Therapist
I have been a therapist in the addiction field since 2007 and I have a passion for empowering clients to find their way toward a life worth living. I have worked in a wide array of treatment programs in Minnesota—extended care inpatient, traditional 30-day inpatient, high intensity outpatient, aftercare and education based DWI programs. One thing I have noticed while working in various levels of care in addiction treatment is that there is a gap in services upon completion. We lack long-term aftercare options that allow people to continue to explore significant mental health issues. I want to provide addiction informed mental health therapy that welcomes people at all stages of recovery. Whether you are thinking about cutting back, returning to recovery after relapse, needing continued support after treatment, or finding yourself wanting more from your sustained sobriety—I welcome you.
Clients tell me that I am genuine and non-judgmental. They feel safe talking about things that they have been avoiding for years. Many clients say the process of self-discovery is less scary than they thought and they wished they wouldn’t have waited this long. I see myself as a fellow traveler on this journey to self-acceptance and happiness. I continue to seek my own personal growth as a way to be a better therapist. I look forward to meeting you!
