Meet JuliA Hess

I'm a board-approved LPCC supervisor and the founder of Planting Seeds Recovery, a private-pay group practice in Bloomington, MN. Since 2007, I’ve worked as a clinician supporting individuals, couples, families, and groups—especially enjoy working professionals and their loved ones navigating substance overuse and relational challenges.

My clinical work is grounded in Attachment Theory, ACT, Mindfulness, Somatic Healing, Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy. I'm especially interested in how attachment shapes our ability to feel safe, connect with others, and be vulnerable. I aim to integrate evidence-based practices in a way that feels natural and not overly clinical.

I’ve worked with a wide range of clients—from those experiencing homelessness to C-suite executives. I do my best work with professionals facing substance overuse, intergenerational trauma, attachment issues, life transitions, grief, and career stress. I’ve served adults of all ages across various levels of care, including residential, detox, and intensive outpatient.

As a supervisor, I love helping clinicians grow into their authentic therapeutic voice, deepen their attunement to clients, and build a sustainable, reflective practice. I particularly enjoy working with people who are entering the field as a second or third career or identify as “old souls” in the world. I’m also experienced in simplifying clinical documentation, navigating risk, and writing treatment plans that reflect each client’s unique story.

Group therapy is a passion of mine, and I’ve received extensive training in facilitating process groups. I enjoy helping new clinicians feel confident in both individual and group work.

I look forward to working with you!

Community Commitment

This request for commitment just sets the stage for the benefit of a consistent cohort to grow alongside. We hope you feel right at home!
